If you list your home during the fall/winter season, you won’t accrue the same amount of buyer activity, but the buyers you do see will be far more serious about making a deal.

One question I’m getting a lot lately from people wanting to sell their home is whether they should list it now during the fall/winter season or wait until after the first of the year or even later. Here’s what I keep telling those people: you’re not going to get the same amount of buyer activity, but the buyers that are out there looking are far more serious about snagging a home. A buyer doesn’t search through cold and inclement weather unless they absolutely need to move.
The buyer pool is smaller, but the buyers in that pool are far more serious.
Lately, I’ve been having a lot of success getting homes on the market and selling them. I’m probably going to list six or seven homes in the next week or two. On top of that, the first quarter of the last three or four years has been the busiest time of year for me as far as listings go.
A lot of people assume that the best time of year to sell a home is the summertime, but I don’t always agree with that. Of course selling during the latter months of the year with the holiday season in full swing can be more difficult, but you won’t have to worry about wasting your time with looky-loos.
